Gordon & MacPhail Distillery with Richard Urquhart – Starry Night Virtual Whisky Festival | November 28, 2021 at 5pm MT (Virtual Event)

November 28, 2021 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Join Craft Cellars for our Starry Night Virtual Whisky Festival in support of The Alberta Children’s Hospital and the Matteo Shafer Legacy Fund.

Since the first Starry Night Whisky & Wine Festival in 2017, over $150,000 has been raised. This has facilitated the acquisition of vital equipment such as an Ultrasound unit and speciality beds for children in need. The event was started in memory of Matteo, a member of our extended family, who passed away from brain cancer at the age of 9. Matteo’s parents created The Starry Night Fundraiser and Matteo Shafer Legacy Fund to keep his memory alive and to help other children like Matteo. The focus of our fundraiser this year is the ACTION Project – Alberta Cellular Therapy and Immune Oncology Initiative. The ACTION team will focus on developing next-generation cellular immunotherapies – a new form of cancer treatment that harnesses a child’s own immune system to tackle their particular cancer.

Richard Urquhart, Head of Sales Americas

Richard Urquhart, is a 4th generation family member of the famous Urquhart family of Gordon & Macphail, renowned for selecting, maturing, and bottling some of the world’s finest and rarest single malt Scotch whiskies. Established in 1895, Gordon & Macphail is owned and managed by the third and fourth generation of the Urquhart family.

Alongside an unrivalled knowledge of Scottish single malts and passion for matching spirit with oak, the Urquhart family held a long-standing ambition to own a distillery. This desire became a reality in 1993 with the purchase of the Benromach Distillery on the outskirts of Forres, just twelve miles from the steps of the shop in Elgin. Five years of careful and deliberate re-equipping, Benromach Distillery was officially reopened by HRH Prince Charles in 1998.
