Nose: Macaroon, Maple syrup, kirsch, sugared almonds, cocktail cherries, panatone, antica formula, dark chocolate liquors, bacco grape, jellied sweets, black forest gateaux, damson jam, sloe, plum jam, crystalized (candied) fruit, angelica root, Parma violets, medicinal, Vicks vapour rub, spearmint, Jägermeister.

Palate: Herbal, rosemary, elegant, fresh, doctor pepper, cherry coke, blackberry syrup, raspberry ripple, old spice, damson fruit.

Castarede 1970 Vintage Armagnac (40% abv)

Founded in 1832, the house is the oldest business still operating in the Armagnac. Under the guidance of the Castarède family six generations on, vintage and non-vintage Armagnacs are available, distilled primarily between 1900 – 2000 from throughout the Bas Armagnac region. This 1970 has aromas of vanilla, maple and dried fruits with a balanced and smooth mouthfeel.

Amber colour, a distinguished nose which gives some nice notes of crystallised fruits and rancio. The mouth is subtle and smooth with a slight taste of wood.
