Chateau De Montifaud XO Cognac

Chateau de Montifaud XO Cognac is a rather light and smooth extra old cognac created solely from eaux-de-vie grown in Petite Champagne. A fresh, non-tannic cognac, mellow with hints of almonds and aromas of dried fruits.  A cognac much appreciated by the ladies, thanks to it’s light, fresh taste.

Chateau Montifaud Héritage Louis Vallet L50 Cognac

The Vallet family have been the guardians of Château de Montifaud Cognac for six generations and are today responsible for 125 hectares of vineyards across the Fine Champagne regions. Specializing in traditional production methods, the family chooses to distill only Ugni Blanc grapes and age their Cognacs much longer than required by law. This Grand Cru blend has been crafted exclusively from Petite Champagne eaux-de-vie laid down between 1935 and 1982, making it an exceptionally rare Cognac. On the nose this is a rich, intense and decadent Cognac, with old cigar boxes appearing immediately, followed by nuts and spices. Very round and mellow with good rancio. The palate keeps the oak light, instead bringing forth an almond sweetness. The finish is exceptionally long. A beautiful Cognac.

Tesseron Cognac Lot No. 90 Xo Ovation ‘Selection

This has an average age of over ten years and is a terrific value XO. It is made from wines that derive from the three terroirs in Cognac: Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne and Fins Bois. Predominantly distilled in the 90’s, the Selection’s unique character comes from long ageing in Limousin oak barrels, which adds fullness, spice and sweetness. The pure aroma offers up pears, spiced apples, maple syrup, and vanilla. The palate is silky smooth, with perfectly integrated spirit and a mouth coating texture. A very fine Cognac and a superb XO for the money.
“The latest release from this small but perfectly formed Cognac house. And what a price!” 95 points, Wine & Spirit Magazine
“The aromas are more on the sugary side, molasses, crème brulee and some toasted wood, good structure on the palate; it has a pleasant bitterness that gives structure, some dried fruits and a slightly sweeter finish.”
