Clonakilty Port Cask Finish Irish Whiskey (43.6% abv)

The barrels for the Clonakilty Port Finish Blended Whiskey are stored on the rough cliffs in the south of Ireland. The whiskey was dazzled with 7-10 year old bourbon barrel matured single malt and single grain whiskey. After blending, the whiskey was added to the Port Wine Cask to give it an excellent finish. In the glass, the whiskey captivates with its great color. The port wine barrel has given him a great red tone.

Craoi Na Mona 10 Year Old Irish Single Malt Whisky (46% abv)

The 10-year old Craoi Na Mona single malt is something a bit different. It’s an Irish whiskey, distilled at the Cooley Distillery in the north-east the country and bottled by the British spirit merchants Berry Bros. & Rudd.

Like many Irish whiskeys, it has been double-matured in American Oak casks but it is at the end of this process when things get interesting. After a decade of maturation, this single malt is shipped to Scotland where it spends around five months in heavily-peated casks which previously held Laphroaig.

This explains the name of this whiskey Craoi Na Mona is Irish Gaelic for ‘heart of peat’. The Islay peat flavour definitely permeates throughout but rather than overpower it adds to a complex and flavorsome whisky which is best drank neat or with the tiniest splash of water.

Glendalough 13 Year Old Irish Whiskey – Mizunara Oak Finish (46% abv)

The first and only Irish whiskey to have been finished in Japanese mizunara oak casks. First aged in bourbon barrels, this single malt was then transferred to virgin mizunara barrels created by hand at Japan’s only independent cooperage. These lightly charred barrels have added vanilla, sandalwood and a touch of coconut to the whisky, while also increasing smoothness and depth of flavour.

Glendalough 13 Year Old Single Malt (46% abv)

This excellent  whiskey from the Glendalough Distillery is matured in first-fill bourbon casks and appropriately cut to 46% using local Wicklow water. The original plan was to release this as a 12-year-old, as is traditional, but it was matured an extra year in honour of rugby great Brian O’Driscoll, a shareholder in the company. O’Driscoll wore the No.13 jersey for Ireland during his playing days. We will have to wait a few more years to taste whiskey from Glendalough’s own Holstein stills, but this is very good for the money and has some deep spicy and peppery notes. Each bottle depicts St Kevin, who founded a monastery beside the beautiful lakes at Glendalough.

Glendalough 7 Year Old Black Pitts Porter Finish Single Malt Irish Whiskey (46% abv)

Glendalough have very deliberately chosen a period of seven years to age this whisky: seven is not only the number of year that St Kevin spent in the wild, but also a nod to the ‘City of Seven Churches’ he built at Glendalough. Finished in ex-porter casks from Black Pitts Brewery, the whiskey inside the bottle graced by St Kevin’s image is a floral, fruity whiskey with cinnamon and white pepper highlights.

Green Spot Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey (40% abv)

This historic single pot still Irish whiskey used only to be available in Dublin grocer Mitchell’s, but now has spread across the world to huge acclaim. A delightful combination of fruit, toffee and malt.

Hinch Irish Whiskey 10 Year Old Sherry Cask Finish (43% abv)

Appearance – light Brown with subtle red hue.
Nose – Fresh Fruit with earthy garden-fresh aroma.
Taste – Subtle layers of stewed Fruit and unmistakable nutty aftertaste – outstanding complexity

Hinch Peated Single Malt Irish Whiskey (43% abv)

Nose – Sweet tar and a smoky, woodish nose with immediate strong peat flavors on the palate.
Taste – Immediate strong peat flavors with lingering and nuanced fruit undertones which survive the peat storm. A hint of licorice comes through on the palate as the peat gently mellows awaiting your next sip.

This expression takes its name from Douglas Hyde, who served as the first President of Ireland from 1938 to 1945.
