Hyde No.6 is a blended whiskey that consists of 8 year old grain and 18 Year Old Single malt whiskeys. It does not have any age statement on the bottle, but who cares when the liquid is just this damn good. I have tried most of the releases from Hyde Irish Whiskey but this one is special.

Hyde No.6 is one of the best releases from Hyde Irish Whiskey to date. It is a special limited edition and I’d recommend picking up a bottle soon before they are gone. The President’s Reserve is selected from the master blenders very special selection of old reserve Irish whiskey casks and only 5000 bottles have been released. Kilbeggan Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey (43% abv)

Among this year’s strong field of new single pot still releases, Kilbeggan bottled a gem of an Irish whiskey that sparkled brighter than them all. The already historic whiskey style achieves a powerful air of authenticity. First it’s distilled in the oldest working pot still in Ireland, and the 19th-century Locke family recipe incorporates 2.5% oats, a common addition at the time. Melon, candied peel, nutmeg, cinnamon, and honeysuckle aromas cascade into a palate made especially lush and creamy from the oats, with citrus peel, apricot, and roasted hazelnut flavors leading to a mellow, rounded finish, adeptly exhibiting a crisp articulation of pot still spiciness throughout. —Jonny McCormick

Midleton Very Rare Irish Whiskey 2021 (40% abv)

Heralding the 37th edition in our world renowned and highly collectable range, in his final days as Master Distiller, Brian continued the long-standing tradition of hand-selecting whiskeys reserved for this coveted annual expression from Midleton Distillery’s supreme inventory for the last.

Chosen from the most exceptional quality single pot still and single grain Irish whiskeys laid down over the past four decades in Midleton, Co Cork, Midleton Very Rare 2021 is aged from 13 to 35 years in lightly charred ex-bourbon American oak barrels.

Brian Nation selected a high pot still inclusion at 83%, as well as a notable contribution from third fill casks. The result is a luxurious and balanced whiskey with rich pot still connotations, where the distillate takes centre stage thanks to the use of refilled casks – a fitting legacy for one of Irish whiskey’s great Master Distillers.

Written in the Welsh language in the 11th century, The Mabinogi are the earliest prose work in the history of Britain. The interrelated tales deal in mythology, history, political themes, romances and magical fantasies. The stories feature strong women characters, and none are stronger than Rhiannon – an enchantress and a horse goddess who could ‘out-run any pursuer even whilst riding slowly’.
