Taylor Fladgate holds one of the most extensive reserves of very old cask aged Port of any producer. They include a collection of rare Single Harvest Ports. These are Ports from a single year which age to full maturity in seasoned oak casks and display the year of harvest on the label.
Taylor Fladgate has decided to make a limited release, each year, of a Single Harvest Port made 50 years previously. The fifth in the series is the 1968 Single Harvest.
Extremely perfumed with dark-berry and currant aromas. Hints of earth and spices. Full-bodied, round and medium sweet. Hints of resin. Opulent yet restrained. Shows ripe and beautiful fruit with clarity. Try in 2025. JS
Lots of ripe fruit here with raisins and wet earth that turn to violets and hot stones. Full-bodied, tannic and powerful with fantastic grip and intensity. Grabs you. Impressive. Drink in 2025. JS 98 pts
OMG. This is really the most amazing young Taylor Fladgate I have ever tasted. Full-bodied and lightly sweet with super power and intensity. So racy and focused. Yet this has such muscle and intensity. Needs at least eight years to show you everything it has to offer. Drink in 2025.
Opaque purple color, almost black, with a very narrow purple aureole. Classic nose, with intense aroma, almost intoxicating, of wild fruits. Fruity is powerful but at the same time very fine and complex. The dense aromas of blackberry and cassis are the base notes for the mentholated and balsamic fragrances of aromatic herbs and the resinous character of esteva. Discreet notes of exotic wood, licorice and black pepper add an additional dimension of complexity. The palate is built around a dense core of black fruits and the tannins, with their dense and closed weave, provide structure and volume at the same time. The aromas of raspberry and plum add freshness and lightness to the long and lush finish. The vintage of 2015, the year of Fonseca’s bicentenary, produced an exceptional, expressive and accessible Vintage Guimaraens with the vigor necessary to ensure a long life in the wine cellar.
Cool, light-amber color, this unique white “tawny” port derives from the traditional white grapes of the Porto e Douro region. Starting with aromas of a Pear Clafouti and burnt sugar, this elegant port delivers luscious flavors of Japanese pear-apple, with accents of hazelnut, nutmeg and orange zest. The lingering grapefruit finish provides the perfect balance for the sweetness
Dark maple in color with fragrant whiffs of honey, caramel, a gentle spirit note and hazelnut which was gorgeous. Medium-bodied, soft and sumptuous with a silky elegance that I love in top Colheitas with age. Bright acidity provides the requisite balance, showing an off-dry style which works well with the long and unrelenting finish. 96 pts Robert Parker
Deep, old gold colour with hints of dried fruit and honey offsetting the rich nutty aromas. Lush, silky richness with an elegant, slightly austere quality which is quite distinctive. Subtle dried fruit flavours underly, exotic layers of caramel and nuts culminating in an endless finish.
