Courvoisier Succession J.S. is an extremely exclusive cognac. Created to commemorate the bicentenary of Napoleon Bonaparte’s crowning as the Emperor of France in 1804, ‘Le Sacre de Napoleon’, just 2,000 bottles have ever been produced.
Housed in a beautifully handcrafted wooden replica of Napoleon’s War Chest, a prized possession that traveled everywhere with him, Succession contains cognacs from the family of one of our best Grande Champagne suppliers, who have kept their best reserve hidden for generations. This precious cognac honours our unique association with our winegrowers but also encapsulates both the history and passion that are needed to create this masterpiece.
In a tiny village at the heart of the Grande Champagne cru lives a family that have been cultivating vineyards and distilling wine for us for generations. They use only the most skilled craftsmanship and traditional methods, knowledge they’ve conscientiously passed on over decades.
They keep their finest reserves of cognac hidden directly under their sleeping quarters in the Chateau’s cellar, passing on the secret of this treasure trove from daughter to daughter.
When the news spread that we were creating a prestigious cognac to mark the bicentenary of ‘Le Sacre de Napoleon’, the daughter of this family chose to honour her family’s devotion and achievement by offering these precious, exquisite reserves to our Master Blender.
