Domaine Barge Côte Blonde 2016
$114.99
La Côte Blonde is a 14-hectare locality. It is a very specific hillside. South / south-east exposure, only in chaillées, which constitutes a deep soil and therefore a good water reserve. It is a warm and early ground planted for my part in 1947 and 1952, one recognizes the soil with the intense perfumes of violets, black fruits, spices with an empyreumatic smoked note. Family property since 1979 thanks to the work of Gilles Barge. We express all our know-how and our passion through this cuvée. No use of synthetic products or weed killers.Robust wine, exceptional fragrances. Opinion on vintage: Great success, needs time to develop.
96 points – Wine Spectator – “This is tightly packed, offering pure cassis, damson plum and bitter cherry fruit, inlaid with singed alder, tea and olive notes. The long finish features a piercing iron spine that runs throughout and imparts a very precise feel. (JM)”
