Ippolito 160 Anni Rosso, Calabria IGT
$50.99
For this tribute to the 160th anniversary of the Ippolito vineyard, only the best grapes are used. After all, it should be a sign for the skills of the oenologists. The grapes grow on slopes in about 250m asl. in the village of Cirò Marina. The soils are sandy and clay-rich, making them ideal for winegrowing. After harvesting, the grapes are dried on grids until the end of November, before a maceration with wine from fresh grapes is obtained. Afterwards, this wonderful wine matures in oak barrels for 16 months.
Tasting Notes: Extremely complex in the nose with elegant notes of ripe blackberries, cherries, violets, juniper, cloves, cocoa and black pepper. Sensitive people also perceive a subtle menthol smell. On the palate round with a nice structure. Velvety tannins and spicy. In the end, a long final is waiting.
