Big punch of peat with sweet fruitiness adding depth and balance on the palate.

Chateau Pontet Canet Pauillac 2012

James Suckling 93 points
This shows incredible decadence and opulence for the vintage with dried meat, black berry, blueberries and hints of mushroom. Full body, very polished silky tannins and a chewy finish. Lots of richness for the vintage. Persistent palate. This was aged 35% in cement eggs for 12 months. Better in 2018.

Deerfield Ranch Merlot Cuveé

Layered with enticing aromas of black plum, espresso, violets and red flower, this full bodied Merlot shows a robust core of dried cherry, blackberry and baking spice on a seamless finish of fine-grained firm tannin.

Deutz Brut Rose 2012 Vintage

This has a many-hued color with strong pink tinges and fine bubbles. The nose is fresh and direct, with aromas reminiscent of cherries, blackberries, pomegranates and red currants. On the palate, the wine shows a deliciously full body that follows on perfectly from the nose. Its flavors remind one of fresh strawberries and raspberries. The finish has a pleasantly acidulous character that adds to the impression of finesse given by this romantic and well-balanced wine.

Deutz’s 2012 Vintage Brut Millesime

Deutz’s 2012 Vintage Brut (LA116D25717) has a white / copper-golden color and opens with a terribly clear, fresh, concentrated and aromatic bouquet of ripe white fruits, nuts and a classic chalkiness in the background. The palate is tight, pure, dry, fresh, straight and structured but elegant, with a long, mineral finish. Very stimulating yet tight, this is a really great 2012 and still terribly fresh! Tasted in June 2018. Wine Advocate-Parker: 90 PTS

Enclos Haut-Mazeyres Pomerol 2012

This fine spicy copy of Pomerol unfolds aromas of mocha and chocolate already in the nose. The wine tastes of black currants, which are surrounded by a subtle tobacco note. He is silky soft and has an elegant finish.

John Duval Eligo Shiraz 2012

97 points Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate

Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2012 Eligo has a profoundly scented nose of crème de cassis, blackberry pie, licorice, dark chocolate and blueberry preserves against an earthy/meaty background of bacon fat, forest floor, beef dripping and black loam. The densely packed, full-bodied palate manages almost paradoxical elegance and restraint with velvety tannins and lively acid giving closure to the long, multilayered finish. (LPB)   (6/2015)
