Although the original Jura distillery was founded in the early 1800s, the rebuilt distillery we have now is a classic 1960s distillery, one of many that emerged in that boom period. A light smoky nature can be found in this whisky, accompanied by tastes like applewood and vanilla. This develops into meaty notes on the finish.
Producing light whisky traditionally, because this is what the industry required when the distillery was founded in 1960s, Jura has always been a distillery influenced by the surrounding world and from its inception was looking to satisfy the desires of the world beyond its island home.
Over time, it has expanded its peated range which has been implemented as part of a larger revamp of the distillery and its products.
