About Murray McDavid

Founded in 1994 by Mark Reynier (current CEO of Waterford and Renegade), Simon Coughlin and Gordon Wright (Springbank Distillery), Murray McDavid quickly made a name for itself with maturation in exquisite barrels. The team is also known for taking over and “rescuing” the Bruichladdich Distillery.

Strathclyde 1987 34 Year Old
This single grain from Glasgow’s Strathclyde distillery was distilled back in 1987(!) and matured for over three decades. The first 30 years were spent in a bourbon hogshead, before it was moved to small rye whiskey casks from Koval in Chicago for a four-year finish. The result is a superbly balanced whisky with notes of sweet oak and fresh cereal. Nose: Toffee apple, stewed pears, vanilla. Palate: Sweet oak, caramel sauce, fresh cereal. Finish: Long and gentle, peanut brittle. It was then bottled by Murray McDavid, with 584 bottles released for the Mission Gold range.
