Château Latour-Martillac Blanc 2021, Pessac-Léognan
$90.99
Château Latour-Martillac is a wine estate in the Pessac-Léognan appellation in the north of Bordeaux’s Graves wine region, just south of Bordeaux city and on the so-called Left-Bank of the Garonne River. The estate makes Cabernet Sauvignon-dominant red blends as well as a dry white wine led by Sémillon. The estate takes its name from the tower which stands in the main courtyard of the château; it is the remnant of a fort built in the 12th century by the ancestors of Montesquieu.
This wine is bursting with fresh fruit and energy. The bouquet is an irresistible cordial of lime flower, ginger infusion and wet stone – everything you could want. The palate is open and delicious to drink now, but this will have some ageing potential, too. Aged 15 months in 25% new French oak barrels.
Expert Tasting Notes: “A crystalline aspect to the nose, real clarity and freshness. The palate is striking, zesty and alive, sharp yet also with density that gives a push-pull from the acidity and succulence. This is characterful, certainly full of life and flavour with a touch of sherbet sourness and honeyed sweetness. Lots to like here, with a directness on the palate and a certain tension despite the range of flavours.” – Decanter, 93 Points
