Fortunate Son The Warrior Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2019
$559.99
Pure, total power and darkness. Be careful as you may like it too much and it could put you in the mood to tell people what you really think. It again is not for the faint of heart it is for those with a will of steel and determination to match. This is a wine for people that admire subtle elegance and not-so-subtle power.
Vintage Notes
The 2019 vintage was in every way a staggeringly great to me. I knew then, as I watched the vintage progress and when I finally and methodically picked the fruit block by block, passing through again and again to get just the perfect clusters, the fruit, those intense flavors, the richness were something incredible, even more so now, looking back, knowing now that the following year would bring so much carnage. How lucky I was, and I didn’t even know it.
Vineyard Notes
Sourced from a single, small, family-owned vineyard, farmed with great care and attention (their “dream” standard) and never forced to pick by weather or tank capacities. Made by sorting the fruit berry by berry, fermenting in small, French oak fermenters, and long aging in the finest barriques. The secret is no compromise and no detail overlooked, ever.
98 Points – Jeb Dunnuck
“The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon The Warrior is riveting stuff, offering an incredible array of sweet darker currants, tobacco leaf, lead pencil, and classy oak. It’s a big, rich wine, yet it’s not over the top and has a semi-opaque purple hue, medium to full body, seamless tannins, and a layered, silky, incredibly satisfying style that’s going to evolve for two decades.” – Jeb Dunnuck
