Origen Raiz Sotol (50% abv)


Origen Raiz Sotol is made with Dasylirion cedrosanum by maestro mezcalero Valentin Cortes. Don Valentin lives in Santiago Matatlan, Oaxaca where he produces almost all of his mezcal and other distillates. He produced this Sotol, however, at the El Ojo vinata in Tuitan, Durango. The wild Dasylirion cedrosanum was harvested from the volcanic valley of Maika of Nombre de Dios, deep in the heart of the Durango Mountains.

Wild grown Sotol from the home ranch, El Ojo. There’s a red apple skin hint at first, grassy, touch of anise, worn leather, sweet fruit hits first on palate, then a roll of spice, like custard apple and jalapeo. Its long and complex with the spice note lingering mid palate, nice heat to it, but it drinks well under its ABV.
