Ardnamurchan Heritage Barley 2025

Located on the remote Ardnamurchan Peninsula in Scotland’s West Highlands, Ardnamurchan Distillery was founded in 2014 by independent bottler Adelphi and has quickly gained a reputation for characterful, transparently produced single malts. The Heritage Barley 2025 release launches a new series focused on historic barley varieties, beginning with Golden Promise—a once-popular Scottish strain prized for its creamy texture and depth of flavour. Distilled in 2018 from 100% unpeated Golden Promise malt and matured solely in ex-American bourbon barrels, the whisky is bottled at natural colour and without chill filtration, emphasizing the distillery’s commitment to authenticity and barley-driven character.

Tasting Notes:
Nose: Milk chocolate digestive biscuits, glacé cherries, and apricot jam layered with lime cordial, marzipan, icing sugar, and honeyed sourdough toast, with hints of preserved lemon and fresh grass.

Palate: Rich and oily with sugared almonds, salted cashews, and pistachio, complemented by creamy malt sweetness, orange polenta cake, baked apples, and bright citrus lift.

Finish: Medium-long and warming with soft orchard fruits, gentle nuttiness, lingering espresso notes, and a touch of sweet malt.
