Ardnamurchan Tokaji Release 2026

The whisky was distilled in 2018, with the 28 bourbon barrels transferred into Hungarian Tokaji casks in early 2024 for roughly two additional years of maturation. Although some retailers market it as an 8 Year Old, Ardnamurchan itself presents the release without an age statement, so I would avoid emphasizing the age on the product page unless your bottle carries one.

Cask & Maturation
Tokaji wine casks are still relatively uncommon in Scotch whisky. Here, their influence adds floral, orchard-fruit and candied notes to Ardnamurchan’s naturally coastal character rather than simply making the whisky sweeter.

Tasting Notes
Nose: Fresh pear and green apple with sandalwood, baked banana, sour apple sweets and an unusual touch of bamboo.
Palate: Sugared almonds and nashi pear with sweet-and-salty popcorn, lemon pith, candied ginger, white pepper, mace and delicate rose petals.
Finish: Saline and spicy, with lingering fruit, pepper and balanced sweetness.
