Nikolaihof Wachau, located in Mautern on the Danube, is one of Austria’s most historic wine estates and a pioneer of biodynamic viticulture. The Saahs family has farmed according to biodynamic principles since the 1970s, and the estate is Demeter certified. Rather than pursuing highly manipulated styles, Nikolaihof is renowned for spontaneous fermentation, minimal intervention, long maturation, and wines of remarkable purity and longevity.

Tasting Notes
Colour: Brilliant pale straw yellow with youthful green reflections.

Nose: Fresh and precise, opening with white peach, green apple and citrus zest, followed by apricot, pear and quince. Subtle wet-stone and mineral notes give the aromatics a distinctly Wachau character.

Palate: Dry, slender and energetic, with juicy lime, citrus, peach and orchard fruit carried by focused acidity. Beneath the fruit lies impressive stony depth and a cool mineral tension that gives the wine considerably more presence than its light-footed style initially suggests.

Finish: Long, clean and mineral-driven, with lingering citrus, stone fruit and an appetizing saline quality that keeps the wine exceptionally refreshing
