Ballechin 20 Year Old

Ballechin represents the heavily peated style of Edradour, produced only in limited runs each year. This 20-year-old release is a rare look at how the distillery’s weighty, smoky spirit evolves over extended aging. Matured in carefully chosen casks and bottled with minimal intervention, it delivers a distinctive balance of peat richness and old-world Highland malt character.

Nose:
Smouldering peat, roasted malt, and damp oak lead the way. Beneath the smoke appear notes of blackberry compote, cocoa, aged leather, and subtle herbal tones.

Palate:
Expansive and oily. Layers of peat ash, dark chocolate, stewed fruits, and molasses move into earthy spice, charred wood, and a gentle sweetness reminiscent of caramelized brown sugar. The long aging adds structure and refinement without muting intensity.

Finish:
Enduring and warming with glowing peat, dried fruit, cracked pepper, and a slow fade of oak tannin and cocoa powder.
