Benromach Single Cask 2009 Tuscan #581

Benromach Single Cask 2009 Tuscan #581

Bright, elegant, and wonderfully unconventional, this exclusive single cask Speyside malt showcases the influence of a first-fill Sassicaia wine cask, layering vibrant red berry fruit, citrus zest, creamy vanilla, and subtle smoke over Benromach's distinctive house style. Matured for 16 years and bottled at a natural cask strength of 58.7% ABV, it delivers a compelling combination of rich fruit character, refined oak, and gentle peat smoke, creating a whisky that is both expressive and beautifully balanced.

Benromach Single Cask 2009 Tuscan #581

Produced at Benromach Distillery in Forres, Speyside, this 2009 vintage single cask was distilled on July 27, 2009, and bottled on August 4, 2025, exclusively for Southern Ontario Sippers. Founded in 1898 and owned by Gordon & MacPhail since 1993, Benromach has built a reputation for producing traditionally styled Speyside single malts with a subtle peat influence, long fermentations, and hands-on production methods. Cask #581 spent its entire 16-year maturation in a first-fill Sassicaia wine cask, sourced from one of Italy's most celebrated Super Tuscan wines. This unusual maturation regime imparted vibrant red fruit character and wine-derived complexity while complementing Benromach's naturally fruity and lightly smoky spirit. Bottled at natural colour and without chill filtration, the release yielded just 264 bottles.
