Bertani Amarone Della Valpolicella Classico

Winery - The story of Bertani, one of the most important producers in the Veneto region, began in 1857 when two brothers, Giovan Battista and Gaetano Bertani, decided to settle in Quinto Di Valpantena, north of Verona, Italy. A student of the famous Professor Guyot, Gaetano Bertani set out to apply the techniques he had learned in Bordeaux to Italian wines, in tune with the innovative period that marked the advancement of modern viticulture, both in the vineyard and in the cellar. In 1958, Bertani became one of Italys most famous names with the release of an iconic wine, Amarone. The Amarone Della Valpolicella Classico 2012 is born on the great terroirs of Tenuta Novare. Located in the heart of the hills of the Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOC denomination, near the village of Arbizzano di Negrar, Tenuta Novare is situated in the province of Veneto, in the north-east of Italy. The vines are 20 years old on average and are planted on limestone and basalt soil. Color - The color is an intense red with garnet highlights. Nose - The nose combines fruity fragrances (plum, cherry, Morello cherry) with notes of tea, liquorice and spices. Palate - Elegant and well-balanced, the palate is seduced by this wine’s fruity (red fruits) and spicy notes. 98 Points - James Suckling 95 Points - Wine Enthusiast This wine is pure in its fruit, earnestness and joy. It opens with aromas of vibrant red plum, macerated red cherries and raspberries followed by cocoa powder, oolong tea and dried violets. Each sniff of the glass brings a new aroma. The wine is earth-driven on the palate, with tobacco and dried red and black fruits blending well with mixed herbs, savory spices and elegant tannins, all leading to a fresh acidity that makes the wine pop on the finish. Drink now–2040. Corvina Veronese (80%) and Rondinella (20%)
