Chappellet 2022 Napa Valley Signature Cabernet Sauvignon

Chappellet 2022 Napa Valley Signature Cabernet Sauvignon

Highly perfumed and scented with some pepper spice, minty menthol aspects, damsons, cherries and blackcurrants. Floral accents too. Grippy in the best way, this captures your attention and doesn't let it go. Amazing minerality - the salty wet stones linger on the palate with a mineral, saline aspect alongside the blackcurrants and plums. Still quite compact and a touch strict in terms of tannins and spice - vanilla, chocolate and lots of oak but this will settle. Great quality. -Β  DecanterΒ

Chappellet 2022 Napa Valley Signature Cabernet Sauvignon

$90.99 $131.99

Chappellet 2022 Napa Valley Signature Cabernet Sauvignon

Founded in 1967, Chappellet was an early pioneer of mountain-grown Cabernet in Napa Valley. Signature is the estate’s longstanding flagship Cabernet, sourced from rocky Pritchard Hill vineyards beginning around 800 feet elevation, where low-fertility mountain soils naturally produce small, concentrated berries.

The 2022 blend is 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Petit Verdot, 7% Malbec and 2% Merlot, incorporating nine Cabernet clones. Fruit was harvested from September 7 through October 20, with the finished wine bottled in June 2024.

Tasting Notes
Colour: Deep garnet-purple with an opaque core.
Nose: Blackcurrant, dark cherry and plum with cedar, mountain sage, tobacco, thyme and toasted oak.
Palate: Full and concentrated, with cassis and black cherry layered with dark chocolate, espresso and graphite. Fine-grained tannins provide substantial structure without sacrificing polish.
Finish: Long and savoury, with lingering dark fruit, herbs, cedar and barrel spice.
