Cune 2020 Rioja Reserva

CVNE (Compañía Vinícola del Norte de España), commonly known as CUNE, is one of Rioja’s most historic and respected producers. Founded in 1879 in the Barrio de la Estación of Haro, Rioja Alta, the winery remains family-owned and is widely regarded as a benchmark for traditional yet consistently high-quality Rioja wines.

The 2020 Reserva is crafted primarily from Tempranillo, complemented by small amounts of Garnacha, Graciano, and Mazuelo depending on the vintage. The fruit is sourced from selected vineyards across Rioja Alta and Rioja Alavesa, where a combination of Atlantic influence, limestone-rich soils, and moderate growing conditions contributes freshness, structure, and aromatic complexity.

Tasting Notes
Colour: Deep ruby with garnet reflections

Nose: Aromas of black cherry, red plum, and blackberry layered with notes of vanilla, cedar, tobacco, clove, and sweet baking spice

Palate: Medium- to full-bodied, with silky tannins and balanced acidity. Flavours of ripe red and dark fruit are complemented by cocoa, leather, toasted oak, and subtle balsamic notes

Finish: Long and polished, with lingering fruit, spice, vanilla, and classic Rioja savouriness
