Janare 2023 Lavica Falanghina

Janare is produced by La Guardiense, one of Campania’s leading cooperatives, located in the Sannio region northeast of Naples. The winery is known for its focus on indigenous southern Italian grape varieties, particularly Falanghina and Aglianico, and for showcasing the unique volcanic terroirs of the region. The “Lavica” designation references the lava-rich soils that contribute notable minerality and tension to the wine.

The 2023 vintage delivered favourable growing conditions with warm Mediterranean temperatures balanced by cooler nighttime conditions, allowing the Falanghina grapes to retain freshness and aromatic precision. Fermentation took place in stainless steel to preserve varietal purity, vibrancy, and the grape’s naturally expressive citrus and floral character.

Colour:
Pale straw yellow with green reflections.

Nose:
Fresh citrus aromas of lemon zest and grapefruit alongside white peach, green apple, and delicate floral notes, underscored by subtle volcanic minerality.

Palate:
Bright and energetic with crisp acidity and flavours of citrus, orchard fruit, and hints of saline minerality. The texture is clean and refreshing with excellent balance.

Finish:
Persistent and mineral-driven, finishing with lingering citrus and a savoury freshness.
