Glendronach Ode to Embers

The GlenDronach Ode to the Embers is part of The Master's Anthology, a three-expression collection introduced in late 2024 and created by Master Blender Dr. Rachel Barrie. Unlike GlenDronach's predominantly unpeated core range, this expression uses peated malted barley, creating a distinctly smoky interpretation of the house style. It is bottled at 48.4% ABV without an age statement.

The whisky is matured in a combination of two traditional Spanish sherry cask styles:
- Oloroso sherry casks: The dominant component, contributing toasted nuts, warming spice and savoury depth.
- Pedro Ximénez sherry casks: Adding concentrated dried fruit, honeyed sweetness and rich chocolate notes.

Tasting Notes
Colour: Smouldering amber.
Nose: Cinnamon-spiced toffee, fresh apple and caramelized walnut brittle, with flamed orange and gentle woodsmoke.
Palate: Honeyed walnuts, rich raisins and blackberry ganache develop into smoked chocolate fudge.
Finish: Lingering dark chocolate, sweet spice and dried fruit, with a soft, smoky warmth.
