James Ownby Reserve Bourbon

James Ownby Reserve is produced and bottled by Ole Smoky Distillery in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Named after James Ownby, the fifth-generation great-grandfather of Ole Smoky founder Joe Baker, the brand honours one of the original settlers of the Great Smoky Mountains and a veteran of the American Revolutionary War. Although Ole Smoky is best known for its moonshine, James Ownby Reserve represents the distillery's premium whiskey program, combining sourced Tennessee straight bourbon with the traditional Lincoln County Process, in which the new make spirit is filtered through sugar maple charcoal before entering the barrel. The whiskey is then matured in new virgin charred American oak barrels, producing a softer, rounder profile while retaining classic bourbon richness.

Tasting Notes
Nose: Aromas of vanilla, caramel, toasted oak, maple, orange peel, cinnamon, and light banana bread are complemented by subtle barrel char and baking spices.

Palate: Smooth and medium-bodied with layers of caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, toasted oak, clove, gentle apple, baking chocolate, and a touch of peppery spice balanced by the mellow influence of charcoal filtration.

Finish: Medium in length with lingering notes of brown sugar, toasted oak, cinnamon, sweet vanilla, and gentle spice that fade cleanly and warmly.
