Distillery Overview & Production

Kavalan Distillery, located in Yilan County, Taiwan, was founded in 2005 and quickly gained worldwide recognition for producing award-winning single malt whiskies of remarkable depth and complexity. Named after the indigenous Kavalan people, the distillery benefits from exceptionally pure mountain water and Taiwan’s warm, humid subtropical climate.

The region’s climate accelerates the maturation process, allowing the whisky to develop rich texture, concentrated flavour, and integrated oak influence in a shorter aging period compared to cooler whisky-producing regions. This rapid maturation contributes to Kavalan’s signature style — expressive, fruit-forward, and exceptionally smooth.

Kavalan Classic Single Malt is crafted from carefully selected malted barley and matured in a combination of oak casks that enhance complexity while preserving balance and freshness. Precise fermentation, distillation, and cask management techniques ensure a polished and harmonious whisky that emphasizes elegance over heaviness.
