Kistler 2023 Trenton Roadhouse Vineyard Chardonnay

Founded in 1978 by Steve Kistler, Kistler Vineyards has become one of California’s benchmark Chardonnay producers, renowned for its vineyard-designate wines and Burgundian-inspired approach. Today, under the direction of winemaker Jason Kesner, the winery continues its commitment to site expression, low yields, and meticulous vineyard management.

The Trenton Roadhouse Vineyard is located in the Russian River Valley portion of the Sonoma Coast, where cool Pacific influences, morning fog, and well-drained Goldridge soils create ideal conditions for Chardonnay. The vineyard is planted predominantly to Kistler's proprietary heritage selections, producing wines noted for their depth, texture, and mineral precision.

The 2023 vintage benefited from a long, cool growing season that allowed for gradual flavour development and exceptional natural acidity. The fruit was hand-harvested, whole-cluster pressed, and fermented with indigenous yeasts in French oak barrels. Following fermentation, the wine was aged on its lees in barrel, with no malolactic manipulation, allowing the vineyard's character to remain at the forefront.

Colour: Brilliant pale gold with silver-green reflections

Nose: Intense aromas of Meyer lemon, white peach, nectarine, and citrus blossom layered with notes of crushed stone, hazelnut, brioche, and subtle flinty reduction

Palate: Full-bodied yet remarkably focused, with concentrated flavours of lemon curd, ripe orchard fruit, and stone fruit balanced by vibrant acidity and pronounced mineral tension. The texture is rich and layered, supported by seamless oak integration and exceptional precision

Finish: Long and persistent, with lingering citrus, saline minerality, toasted almond, and subtle spice notes
