Maison Darragon Vouvray L'Inedit

Chenin Blanc is a chameleon, showcasing its terroir, winemakers touch, and cellar techniques in the glass. According to the Darragon estate, Chenin Blanc expresses itself here better than anywhere else. The temperate climate ensures gentle ripening, while sweetness and acidity provide Vouvray with perfect balance and freshness, offering decades of aging potential. David Charbonnier has chosen barrel aging to give structure to this wine. The slight sweetness is gracefully balanced by acidity, offering potential for pairing with savory and spicy dishes. Pierre Darragon, along with his daughter Christelle Darragon and her spouse David Charbonnier, continue the tradition of winemaking in the Darragon family, now in its ninth generation. The estate boasts vineyards spanning 40 hectares in the Loire Valleys Touraine region. While their winemaking facilities are new and modern, their old cellars dug into the rock caves are located in the Vouvray vineyards. Chenin Blanc is the estates main grape variety, well-suited to this region where limestone and clay dominate the soil. The mild climate nurtures grapes that achieve a balanced ripeness, offering adequate sweetness along with fine acidity. From their various plots, the family produces sparkling Vouvray as well as dry, off-dry, and sweet white wines depending on the vintage. The cultivation of their vines and winemaking practices adhere to sustainable principles. Darragons wines have garnered widespread acclaim from both critics and the public, with local residents forming an important part of their customer base. COLOR Golden yellow color AROMA Honeydew melon, apricot, white currants, herbs, and rhubarb are evident on the nose TASTE Medium-dry, richly fruity, refreshingly acidic, balanced, and long. TIPS FOR USE Darragon l’Inédit de David Charbonnier Vouvray Sec is an excellent companion for Asian cuisine, small appetizers, charcuterie, creamy pasta, risotto, and it also pairs well as a social wine.
