Master of Malt Elbows Up Canadian Whisky 24 Year Old

Master of Malt Elbows Up Canadian Whisky 24 Year Old

A whisky as bold and free as the country it calls home.

Released for Canada Day, this 24-year-old corn whisky puts a playful spin on the rallying cry of renewed Canadian pride, bottled at a symbolic 67% in honour of the True North Strong & Free. Limited to just over 900 bottles, it’s a bold, distinctly Canadian release with plenty of spirit behind the name.

Master of Malt Elbows Up Canadian Whisky 24 Year Old

Master of Malt Elbows Up Edition comes from an undisclosed Canadian distillery, with the whisky distilled in 2001 and matured in Canada for a full 24 years. Master of Malt identifies it specifically as a Canadian corn whisky, although the distillery itself remains deliberately secret.
The whisky was selected by Master of Malt's Head of Whisky, Canadian-born Sam Simmons, and released to coincide with Canada Day 2026. Even the bottling strength is part of the theme: it was bottled at a formidable 67% ABV, deliberately referencing Canadian Confederation in 1867.

The name "Elbows Up" borrows the familiar hockey expression for standing your ground and being prepared to push back when challenged. Master of Malt uses that distinctly Canadian phrase as the theme for the release, positioning the whisky as a playful celebration of Canadian identity rather than simply another anonymously sourced old whisky.

Tasting Notes
Nose: Surprisingly restrained for the strength, opening with fresh applesauce and the dry, woody aroma of a workshop before raisin scones and delicate aged oak emerge.

Palate: The 67% strength immediately makes itself known, followed by layers of baking spice, crème brûlée, rum-soaked raisins and chocolate chip cookies. A savoury edge adds another dimension to an unusually complex corn-whisky profile.

Finish: Creamy and dessert-like with custard and buttered corn, lifted by cooking spices and a darker note of burnt brown sugar.
