Millstone Peated Single Malt – Special Release #20 2016 Oloroso Cask

This malt whisky surprises with an elegance and complexity far surpassing its age. The whisky shines with its fresh and fruity character and delicate smokiness. The unique qualities of this whisky come from the use of a crystal clear wort that is slowly fermented for 7 days and the slow distillation method with the relatively early cut point. After distillation the whisky had a full maturation in oloroso sherry casks that give the whisky its beautiful color and adds to the elegant nutty and fruity notes that work so well with the delicate peaty notes. Nose : Rich and fresh with a citrussy fruity character and a very delicate smokiness. Over time the aromas become even richer and the peaty notes become a little more pronounced but always balanced with the citrussy notes of fresh lemons and limes. Taste : Luxurious and Elegant, wonderfully balanced. The obvious smokey and citrus aroma’s combined with a rich and nutty and dried fruits quality that probably comes from the casks culminating in a trademark spiciness Finish : Long and luscious with an elegant and pleasant smokiness
