Tenuta San Guido Guidalberto 2023

Tenuta San Guido, the estate behind Sassicaia, introduced Guidalberto with the 2000 vintage after more than two decades of experimentation. The wine was conceived as a Bordeaux-style blend, with Merlot bringing softness and aromatic richness alongside the structure of Cabernet Sauvignon. Vineyards dedicated to Guidalberto span varied limestone, marl, gravel and clay soils around the Bolgheri estate.

Vineyards dedicated to Guidalberto span varied limestone, marl, gravel and clay soils around the Bolgheri estate.

The 2023 vintage faced periods of rain and disease pressure followed by summer heat, requiring careful fruit selection. The finished wine matured for approximately 12 months in 225 L barriques, primarily French oak, with roughly 40% new barrels, before additional bottle ageing.
