That Boutique-y Malt Company Balcones 2 Year Old – Batch 1

Very exciting times - this right here is the very first batch of Balcones single malt bottled from That Boutique-y Malt Company. The fabulous malt spirit was distilled by Balcones in Texas and then Brimstone-cask-matured for two years. The label is truly something to behold, depicting your every day metal concert, courtesy of The Brimstone Cowboys in the fiery depths of Hades. The Hell n Back Tour looks pretty good, if a bit scary - that large demon sitting on a throne of skulls is rather unsettling, yknow...  Master of Malt Nose: Loads of sweet, juicy fruits rise from the glass, namely plums, with a buttery toffee backbone, dark chocolate croissant and blackberry jam with a very faint, delicate smoky undertone. Palate: Even more of those juicy fruity notes and sweet, slightly burnt crème brûlée, with a generous helping of peppery spice and lots of drying oak among the baking spices. Finish: Dusty cocoa, sweet fruits and tannic oak, with a savoury smoky finish among lingering syrupy cherry fruit sweetness.
