Ardnahoe Single Malt Cask Strength Batch 2

Ardnahoe Single Malt Cask Strength Batch 2 is produced at Ardnahoe Distillery, Islay's newest operational distillery, founded by the Laing family of Hunter Laing and officially opened in 2019. Built with a philosophy rooted in traditional Scotch whisky production, the distillery employs long fermentation times, exceptionally slow distillation, and one of the few remaining worm tub condensers in Scotland. This traditional setup produces a richly textured, full-bodied spirit that perfectly complements Islay's signature peat smoke. Batch 2 is a five-year-old single malt matured exclusively in first-fill bourbon barrels and bottled at a natural cask strength of 61% ABV. Presented without chill filtration or added colouring, it highlights the distillery's coastal character while allowing the influence of fresh American oak to shine through with notes of vanilla, honey, citrus, and sweet spice layered over clean peat smoke.

Tasting Notes
Nose: Bright aromas of vanilla, lemon zest, orchard fruits, sea spray, fresh peat smoke, honey, toasted oak, and cracked black pepper are layered with subtle herbal notes.

Palate: Rich and mouth-coating with salted caramel, tropical fruit, creamy vanilla, citrus oils, sweet malt, warming spice, and earthy peat smoke balanced by maritime salinity and oak.

Finish: Long, warming, and smoky with lingering vanilla, pepper, citrus peel, charred oak, and gentle coastal brine fading into soft ash and sweet malt.
