Casanova Di Neri Cerretalto Brunello 2019

The 2019 growing season in Montalcino was considered exceptional, marked by ideal conditions for Sangiovese. A cool spring delayed budbreak slightly, while a warm, dry summer followed—with no extreme heat spikes. Diurnal temperature variation was significant, allowing grapes to ripen slowly and evenly, enhancing aromatic complexity and phenolic maturity. Rainfall was moderate and well-timed, supporting healthy vines and low disease pressure.

Tasting Notes:
Opens with an intoxicating bouquet of black cherry, licorice root, lavender, and wild herbs, underpinned by earthy tones of truffle and graphite. On the palate, it’s intense and muscular, with layers of dark plum, bitter chocolate, and blood orange zest, framed by powerful tannins and brilliant acidity. The finish is endless marked by mineral depth, spice, and a haunting echo of fruit and florals. A brooding yet elegant Brunello built for the long haul.

Serving Suggestions:
Serve the 2019 Cerretalto Brunello at around 18°C (64–65°F) in large, bowl-shaped glasses to highlight its aromatic depth and structure. If enjoying the wine within the first 5–10 years of release, it is highly recommended to decant for 2 to 3 hours to allow the bouquet and texture to fully unfold. This powerful yet refined Brunello pairs beautifully with rich Tuscan dishes such as wild boar ragu, roast lamb with rosemary, or porcini mushroom risotto, as well as aged Pecorino Toscano. For those looking to cellar, this wine is built for longevity and will evolve gracefully over the next two to three decades under proper storage conditions.
