Chateau Lafite Rothschild 2019 Bordeaux

Winemaker Notes Very dark color, with purple glints, indicating that the wine is still very much in its youth. The nose is still quite closed, which is to be expected after only a few months in the bottle. But it already presents good depth and plenty of complexity. Notes of fresh strawberries and tobacco, in which the wood has become perfectly integrated. The attack is simultaneously supple and very powerful. The intensity on the palate rises steadily... gently coming to rest on a plateau that is already very high. Not at all aggressive, it continues with great length, and in perfect harmony. This is a Lafite that is currently revealing very little of its potential; to experience it in its full glory will require waiting... for some years. Blend: 94% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Merlot, 1% Petit Verdot Critical Acclaim 100 Points - Robert Parkers Wine Advocate One of the most fantastic wines produced in Bordeaux this year is the 2019 Lafite Rothschild, an impeccably balanced classic of immense charm and grace. Wafting from the glass with arresting aromas of cassis, blackberries and cherries mingled with violets, cigar box and warm spices, its medium to full-bodied, deep and seamless, its velvety attack segueing into a layered, concentrated mid-palate framed by exquisitely powdery tannins and ripe acids, and concluding with a long, perfumed finish. This rivals 2010 and 2016 as the greatest Lafite of the decade, and of those three vintages, its the most sensual and demonstrative out of the gates. The blend contains 94% Cabernet Sauvignon and attained a modest 13.4% alcohol. Best After 2029 100 Points - James Suckling Complex aromas of blackcurrants and lead pencil. Incredible. Graphite and tar. Stunning. Its full-bodied yet shows such harmony and polish. Elegance and complexity with finesse. The tannins are so integrated and endless. It goes on for minutes. 94% cabernet sauvignon, 5% merlot and 1% petit verdot. 100 Points - Jeb Dunnuck A truly great Lafite, and maybe the wine of the vintage, the 2019 Château Lafite-Rothschild reveals a deep purple colour as well as an ultra-classic bouquet of crème de cassis, lead pencil, unsmoked tobacco, chocolate, and gravelly minerality. Deep, full-bodied, and flawlessly balanced, its a magical, heavenly bottle of wine thats going to be approachable with just 5-6 years of bottle age yet evolve for 100 years or more. It reminds me of 2016, only with a touch more sexiness and opulence.
