Domane Wachau Gruner Veltliner

Domäne Wachau is one of Austria’s leading producers, based in the Wachau Valley along the Danube River. The winery works with numerous small growers farming steep, terraced vineyards characterized by primary rock soils such as gneiss and granite. These conditions, combined with a cool continental climate, contribute to wines with pronounced minerality and vibrant acidity.
Grüner Veltliner is Austria’s flagship grape, and in Wachau it produces wines ranging from light and fresh to more structured styles. Entry-level expressions (such as Federspiel or Steinfeder classifications) emphasize clarity, freshness, and regional typicity.

Fermentation typically takes place in stainless steel to preserve purity and aromatic precision, with minimal intervention to allow the vineyard character to show through.

Tasting Notes
Colour: Pale straw with green reflections
Nose: Aromas of green apple, citrus, and white pepper, with subtle herbal and mineral notes
Palate: Light- to medium-bodied, with crisp acidity and flavours of apple, lemon, and stone fruit, supported by a distinct mineral backbone
Finish: Clean and precise, with lingering citrus, peppery spice, and a refreshing dryness

Cellaring & Pairings
Best enjoyed within 2–4 years of vintage for its freshness, though some styles may age longer.
Pairs well with seafood, shellfish, and light poultry dishes. Also complements salads, vegetable dishes (especially asparagus), and foods with herbal or lightly spiced flavours.
