Drouhin Clos De Mouches Rouge

Founded in 1880, Maison Joseph Drouhin is one of Burgundy's most respected family-owned producers, with an unwavering commitment to expressing the individuality of each vineyard. The estate has practiced organic viticulture since the late 1980s and biodynamic farming since the 1990s, focusing on low yields and meticulous vineyard work to reveal the purest expression of terroir.

Clos des Mouches is among the most prestigious Premier Cru vineyards in Beaune, with the Drouhin family owning one of its largest holdings. The southeast-facing, limestone-rich slopes produce Pinot Noir of exceptional finesse and longevity.

Tasting Notes
Colour: Deep ruby red with brilliant clarity and the luminous sheen characteristic of great Burgundy.

Nose: Intense aromas of Morello cherry, raspberry, blackberry, and rose petals are layered with subtle smoky notes, licorice, and spice. With age, the bouquet evolves toward pepper, tobacco, forest floor, and earthy undergrowth.

Palate: Silky yet structured, offering vibrant red and black berry fruit supported by refined tannins, lively acidity, and exceptional balance. Notes of spice, cedar, and mineral complexity add depth while maintaining remarkable elegance.

Finish: Exceptionally long and harmonious, with lingering red fruit, delicate spice, earthy nuances, and a refined mineral character.

Cellaring
Approachable with extended decanting, but this wine truly excels with time. The magnum format is ideal for 15 to 25 years of cellaring, with outstanding vintages capable of ageing even longer while developing extraordinary complexity.
