Fonseca Periquita

Periquita is produced by José Maria da Fonseca, one of Portugal’s oldest and most respected family-owned wineries. Founded in 1834 in the Setúbal Peninsula south of Lisbon, the winery has played a pivotal role in the development of Portuguese wine and remains a leader in promoting indigenous grape varieties.

First released in 1850, Periquita is considered Portugal’s oldest continuously produced table wine brand. The wine is crafted primarily from Castelão, Portugal’s flagship red grape of the Setúbal region, often blended with Trincadeira and Aragonez (Tempranillo) to add complexity and balance.
