Glenallachie 11 Year Old Palo Cortado Sherry

The GlenAllachie 11 Year Old Palo Cortado Sherry Cask Matured was released in April 2026 as the fourth expression in the distillery's Sherry Series, part of its broader Wood Collection. First introduced in 2024, the Sherry Series explores how different styles of sherry influence whisky produced from a similar underlying cask history. This 11-year-old expression introduces the particularly rare Palo Cortado, offering a balance of rich fruit, nuttiness and refined dryness.

The whisky begins its maturation in American oak ex-bourbon barrels before being transferred into carefully selected Palo Cortado sherry puncheons and hogsheads sourced from Cádiz, Spain. Palo Cortado is an unusual sherry that combines the aromatic delicacy of Amontillado with the fuller body and richness of Oloroso. Its distinctive oxidative maturation develops nutty, savoury and dried-fruit characteristics.

Tasting Notes
Nose: Cinnamon, butterscotch and damson plum with heather honey, raisin butter and crystallized ginger.
Palate: Toasted honeycomb, fresh brambles and baking spices, followed by maraschino cherries, mocha, plum jam, treacle and dark chocolate.
Finish: Long and warming, with lingering dark fruit, roasted nuts, oak spice and a pleasantly dry, sherry-influenced character.
