GlenAllachie 2014 The Sinteis Series Part I

The GlenAllachie Distillery, located in Speyside and founded in 1967, has gained renewed acclaim since master blender Billy Walker took ownership in 2017, focusing heavily on quality cask maturation and small-batch releases. The Sinteis Series—named after the Scottish Gaelic word for “synthesis”—explores the creative fusion of two distinctive wood types. Part I is a 2014 vintage matured in first-fill Pedro Ximénez sherry puncheons and Chinquapin virgin oak barrels, the latter a rare American oak species from the Ozarks known for imparting sweet spice and anise-like complexity. Bottled at natural cask strength without chill filtration or added colour, the whisky represents Walker’s approach to combining bold yet complementary cask influences into a harmonious whole.

Tasting Notes:
Nose: Liquorice, butterscotch, and grilled honeycomb layered with candied orchard fruits, cocoa, and treacle tart.

Palate: Ginger, butterscotch, and candied lemon slices give way to fig jam, blackberries, and molasses with warming cinnamon spice.

Finish: Lingering cocoa richness with warming spice and a final note of sherry-soaked fruit.
