Glendronach Ode to the Valley

Glendronach Ode to the Valley

A vibrant, fruit-forward Highland single malt showcasing a different side of GlenDronach's celebrated sherry-cask style. Summer berries, blackberry crumble and sweet damson plum meet apricot, gingerbread and creamy chocolate, with a lingering touch of honeyed spice. Matured in a combination of Portuguese Ruby Port and sherry casks, this expression offers a beautifully rounded balance of ripe fruit and rich Highland character.

Glendronach Ode to the Valley

The GlenDronach Ode to the Valley is part of The Master's Anthology, a three-expression collection introduced in December 2024 by Master Blender Dr. Rachel Barrie. Bottled at 46.2% ABV, this non-age-statement whisky emphasizes ripe berries, floral sweetness and gentle spice rather than the heavier dried-fruit character associated with some of GlenDronach's traditional releases.

The whisky is matured in a combination of two cask styles:
- Ruby Port casks: Sourced from Portugal's Douro Valley, contributing ripe blackberries, plums, red berries and rounded sweetness.
- Sherry casks: GlenDronach's signature maturation style, adding richness, baking spice, chocolate and gentle oak complexity.

Tasting Notes
Colour: Burnished copper.
Nose: Late summer berries and creamy milk chocolate with demerara sugar and sweet apricot glaze.
Palate: Ripe blackberry and roasted apple crumble, followed by freshly baked gingerbread and sweet damson plum.
Finish: Lingering black cherry cake, liquorice and acacia honey, with gentle oak spice.
