J Lohr 2022 Hilltop Cabernet Sauvignon

J. Lohr Vineyards & Wines was an early pioneer in Paso Robles, planting its first vineyards in the region in 1986 after founder Jerry Lohr recognized its potential for Cabernet Sauvignon and other Bordeaux varieties. Hilltop Cabernet Sauvignon, first released in 1998, represents a more concentrated expression of select elevated Paso Robles vineyard sites.
The wine was fermented in stainless steel and matured for 16 months in French oak, 70% new. Petit Verdot adds blue-fruit depth, Malbec contributes red currant character, and Cabernet Franc brings aromatic freshness and peppery lift.

Tasting Notes
Colour: Deep ruby-purple with a concentrated core.
Nose: Blackberry and blueberry compote with violet, cracked pepper and black tea.
Palate: Full and plush, with blackcurrant and red currant supported by fine-grained tannins and integrated French oak.
Finish: Long and bright, with lingering dark fruit, spice and subtle toasted pastry notes.
