Kavalan Distillery, based in Yilan County, Taiwan, has garnered global acclaim since first producing spirit in 2005, with its subtropical climate accelerating interaction between wood and whisky to create deeply flavoured and expressive single malts. The King Car 45th Anniversary Palo Cortado release commemorates the 45th anniversary of the distillery’s parent company, King Car Group, and is drawn from a rare Palo Cortado sherry cask — a style prized for combining the finesse of Amontillado with the richness of Oloroso. Matured in Taiwan’s unique environment, this limited edition was bottled at high strength and presented in an elegant 1.5 L format with distinctive packaging that reflects the spirit’s prestige and celebration of craftsmanship.

Nose: Deep, inviting aromas of cocoa powder, bright citrus peel, sweet dried fruits and rich pastry-like toffee create an intricate and enticing opening.

Palate: Full-bodied and smooth with nutty richness, hints of vanilla fruitcake, orange pound cake and fragrant cardamom, layered with the mellow influence of the Palo Cortado cask.

Finish: A long, lingering close where raisins, caramel toffee, toasted biscuit and crushed walnut resonate, underscoring the whisky’s complex and refined character.
