Laphroaig Cairdeas 2024

LIMIT 1 PER PERSON/HOUSEHOLD - ONLINE ONLY From a storm-lashed island off the west coast of Scotland comes Laphroaig - pronounced ‘la-froyg’, a Gaelic word meaning ‘beautiful hollow by the broad bay’. Since 1815, when the distillery was officially founded on Islay (‘eye-la’), a small team of islanders have combined ancient skills, a dedication to quality and the mystical, peaty water of the Kilbride Stream to create what is considered to be the most distinctive single malt in the world. Laphroaig is an acquired taste for some, an essential taste for many – and for those who embrace it, a friend for life. One of Laphroaigs most beloved annual releases is the Cairdeas (pronounced car-duhss ) expression which is a celebration of the Islay distillerys many friendships. This coming year is extra special for the Cairdeas as its been 30 years since Laphroaig first founded Friends of Laphroaig. The new 10 Year Old Laphroaig Cairdeas Cask Favourites is aged in ex-bourbon and quarter casks, before a final finishing in PX casks that has created an expression that tastes rich, deep and indulgent with intense sweet peat smoke, dried fruits and crystallized ginger notes. TASTING NOTES Aroma: Brazil nut toffee brittle, with sweet vanilla custard notes and baking spice, followed by milk chocolate covered raisins and spiced orange. The PX cask influence brings a sweetness of dates and dried figs while an aromatic and earthy peat smoke lingers in the background Taste: Rich, sweet and oily on the palate, with notes of smoked orange toffee, stewed peaches and smouldering campfire. Sultanas, orange peel and apricots balance with hints of coffee grounds and liquorice root, accompanied by a long lasting, medicinal and slightly herbal finish Finish: Long, slightly sweet and dry with a long, slightly peppery peat-rich smoky finish
