Ledaig Castaway

Produced at Tobermory Distillery on the Isle of Mull, Ledaig Castaway is the first whisky in the distillery's history to be matured in a combination of Caribbean rum and Mexican tequila casks. Founded in 1798, Tobermory is one of Scotland's oldest licensed distilleries and the only whisky distillery on the Isle of Mull. Its peated Ledaig spirit is renowned for its robust coastal character, combining earthy smoke with maritime salinity and bright fruit. For Castaway, Master Blender Julieann Fernandez sought to complement that classic profile with the exotic sweetness of rum casks and the herbal complexity of tequila casks. Bottled at natural colour and without chill filtration, the whisky was released in a limited global outturn of just 6,428 bottles, making it one of the distillery's most distinctive experimental releases to date.

Tasting Notes
Nose: Coastal peat smoke is joined by caramelised banana, lime zest, vanilla, green apple, white pepper, and a touch of sea spray, creating an inviting balance of sweetness and maritime freshness.

Palate: Bold peat smoke leads into grilled pineapple, ripe mango, herbal agave, charred citrus, brine, rich toffee, and warming black pepper with a creamy, full-bodied texture.

Finish: Long and warming with lingering peat embers, demerara sugar, chilli spice, lime zest, and a lasting coastal smokiness.
