Michele Chiarlo Barolo Cannubi

Founded in 1956, Michele Chiarlo is one of Piedmont's most respected family wineries, renowned for crafting terroir-driven wines from some of the Langhe's most prestigious vineyards. Since 1989, the estate has owned vineyards in the historic heart of Cannubi, widely regarded as Barolo's oldest and most iconic cru, first recognized in 1752. The unique combination of elevation, exposure, calcareous marl soils, and ideal microclimate consistently produces wines of extraordinary elegance and longevity.

Produced only in outstanding vintages, this Barolo is made from 100% Nebbiolo grown on the terraced slopes of Cannubi. Careful vineyard management, low yields, and traditional vinification preserve the vineyard's remarkable purity, while extended ageing develops the wine's signature depth, structure, and finesse.

Tasting Notes
Colour: Brilliant garnet red with ruby highlights that gradually evolve with age.

Nose: Intensely aromatic, offering notes of crushed rose petals, wild cherry, raspberry, blood orange, licorice, sweet tobacco, graphite, cedar, and delicate baking spice.

Palate: Full-bodied and beautifully structured, with vibrant red fruit, black cherry, cassis, savoury herbs, and mineral complexity supported by firm yet exceptionally refined tannins. Bright acidity brings remarkable balance and energy throughout the palate.

Finish: Exceptionally long and elegant, lingering with notes of rose, licorice, tobacco, crushed stone, and fine spice.

Cellaring
Approachable after several hours of decanting, but this wine truly rewards patience. Cellar for 15 to 25 years, with exceptional vintages capable of evolving even longer.
