Murray McDavid Bowmore 23 Year Old

Murray McDavid Bowmore 23 Year Old is a 2001-vintage Islay single malt released in Autumn 2024 as part of the bottler’s premium Mission Gold collection. The whisky began its maturation in bourbon hogsheads before being transferred into first-fill Port pipe Cask #3, where Murray McDavid says it spent its final 15 years. Roughly two-thirds of the whisky's 23-year maturation took place in the Port pipe, giving the cask ample time to become deeply integrated with Bowmore's mature spirit.

Tasting Notes
Nose: Delicate smoke opens alongside cherry blossom and cocoa, balancing Bowmore's gentle peat with floral fruit and darker chocolate tones.

Palate: Coastal embers, rose water and dark honey create an unusual combination of maritime smoke, floral sweetness and rich texture. The long Port maturation adds sweetness without removing the whisky's distinctly coastal character.

Finish: Ripe fruit and sweet peat linger with a subtle touch of liquorice, bringing the fruit and smoke back together through the finish.
