Prieure De Montezargues Tavel

Prieuré de Montézargues, owned by the Perrin family of Château de Beaucastel, is one of the historic estates in the Tavel appellation. Tavel, located in the southern Rhône Valley, is unique in being dedicated exclusively to rosé wines, known for their depth, structure, and ageing potential.

The wine is typically a blend of Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah, and other permitted varieties. The region’s warm climate and varied soils contribute to ripe fruit development and concentration. Unlike lighter Provençal rosés, Tavel wines are made with longer skin contact or saignée methods, resulting in deeper colour and more robust structure.

Fermentation is carried out in stainless steel, with the focus on preserving fruit while allowing the wine’s natural richness and complexity to develop.

Tasting Notes
Colour: Deep pink to light ruby
Nose: Aromas of strawberry, raspberry, and cherry, with notes of spice, dried herbs, and subtle floral tones
Palate: Medium- to full-bodied for a rosé, with ripe red fruit flavours, balanced acidity, and a slightly textured mouthfeel
Finish: Long and structured, with lingering fruit, spice, and a lightly savoury edge

Cellaring & Pairings
Enjoy now or cellar for 3–5 years, as Tavel rosé can develop additional complexity with age.
Pairs well with grilled meats, Mediterranean dishes, and roasted vegetables. Also complements charcuterie, spiced dishes, and more robust fare than typical rosé pairings.
