Raasay Oak Species Tasting Pack 4x50mL

The Isle of Raasay Distillery, perched on the Hebridean island of Raasay between the Scottish mainland and Skye, has become known for its innovative approach to whisky maturation since opening in 2017. Rather than focusing solely on traditional cask types, Raasay’s Oak Species Maturation Series explores how the choice of oak species β€” from Colombian to European and North American origins β€” impacts the flavour of its lightly peated single malt. This tasting pack, hand-selected by co-founder and Master Distiller Alasdair Day, includes four whiskies each fully matured in a different virgin oak type and bottled to highlight those distinct wood-driven characters.

Tasting Notes:
Quercus humboldtii (Colombian oak):
Nose warm with herbaceous wood smoke and caramel; palate of crystallised brown sugar and crème brûlée; finish with lingering sweetness, mint and green tea.

Quercus petraea (European oak):
Nose with peat smoke and savoury spice; palate of cloves and wood smoke; finish where subtle sweetness arrives late.

Quercus robur (French oak):
Nose offering warm rich fruit; palate of ripe fruit, dried raspberries, smoke and leather; finish with lingering spiciness.

Quercus muehlenbergii (North American oak):
Nose of wood smoke and dark fruits; palate dark fruits with smoky bacon and maple syrup; finish long with smoke, ginger and cinnamon
